Introduction: Action and Light, a dedicated volunteer organization committed to community welfare, successfully organized a Free Eye Camp in Khatlal, Joypurhat, on February 10, 2024. The event was executed in collaboration with Khanjanpur Mission Health Service, specifically with their esteemed Eye Department. We have provided free eye treatment to 200 impoverished villagers, along with offering free eye operations for 22 elderly individuals facing financial constraints.

Preparation and Planning: Months of meticulous planning and coordination preceded the execution of the Free Eye Camp. Action and Light worked closely with Khanjanpur Mission Health Service to ensure all logistical aspects were addressed. This included securing the necessary medical equipment, mobilizing a team of experienced ophthalmologists and support staff, and organizing outreach programs to raise awareness about the event within the community.

Event Execution: The Free Eye Camp commenced at 9:00 AM in the heart of Khatlal, with a welcoming atmosphere that put attendees at ease. A dedicated registration process ensured smooth flow, with volunteers assisting participants in filling out necessary forms. The medical team from Khanjanpur Mission Health Service conducted comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing various ocular conditions and refractive errors.

For those identified with treatable conditions, free eye treatments were administered on-site, including the provision of prescription glasses. Notably, 22 elderly individuals, deemed in need of eye operations, underwent successful surgeries performed by the skilled medical team. These surgeries were made possible through the collective efforts of Action and Light, Khanjanpur Mission Health Service, and the generosity of donors who supported the cause.

 

 

Community Engagement and Education: To maximize the impact of the Free Eye Camp, Action and Light conducted informative sessions on eye health and hygiene. Attendees were educated about preventative measures and the importance of regular eye check-ups for maintaining good vision. These sessions aimed to empower the community with knowledge to improve overall eye health and prevent avoidable eye conditions.

Conclusion: The Free Eye Camp organized by Action and Light in collaboration with Khanjanpur Mission Health Service stands as a testament to the positive impact that volunteer organizations can have on the lives of underserved communities.
