Joypurhat, May 29, 2025 — A significant Anti-Narcotic Awareness Seminar was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Bakul Auditorium in Joypurhat town. The event was  organized by the Narcotic Control Department with the non-governmental development organization Action and Light.The seminar aimed to raise public awareness about the growing threat of drug addiction and to promote a drug-free society through collaboration between government agencies and civil society organizations.Dr. Sazzadul Bari, Chairman of Action and Light, delivered an inspiring speech condemning drug abuse and highlighting the role of communities in fighting this social menace. He emphasized the importance of youth engagement and community-based interventions in building a healthier society.The keynote speech was delivered by Singdha Akter, Officer of the Narcotic Control Department in Joypurhat, who shared key insights on the current drug situation, ongoing government initiatives, and the importance of prevention through education and awareness campaigns.

Human rights activist and representative of people with physical disabilities, Zakariya Mandal Shimul, also addressed the audience, calling for inclusive anti-narcotic efforts that reach all sections of society, including vulnerable and marginalized groups.

The seminar saw the active participation of development workers, social activists, youth leaders, students, and concerned citizens, creating a dynamic platform for discussion and future collaboration.
